Ummmmm -- Patty Blount

 Hi.

So...we're supposed to be writing about what sustains us. And right now, I'm not sure I'm sustaining.

My last novel dropped in 2018. In Young Adult terms, that means the teens who read that novel have probably finished college and started careers, perhaps even families since then.

I've written 3 or 4 novels since then but they haven't sold.

I don't write much these days. I can't blame it on the loss of my sister-in-law last month...or my son's wedding last October... I simply can't do it. I wish I knew why. I miss writing.

So...yeah. What used to sustain me was reading everything I could get my hands on because reading reminded me why I wanted to write in the first place.

  1. Thanks for being so honest about this, Patty. It's such an elusive feeling, sometimes. Are you still reading?

    1. I'm struggling to find anything I WANT to read. I'm not excited anymore... :(

  2. I with you, Patty. I get it. You'll find your groove again. Have you read Lessons in Chemistry? I also loved Shiner by Amy Jo Burns.
