Not Writing
Watch this video. For reals. I'll wait...
Did that make you smile? Because I can't watch that without feeling happy. And now that you think I'm completely insane, I want to talk about not writing.
I finished my edits at the beginning of this month and I've spent the time since...not writing. I've watched TV, read books, and smiled at sleep-barking shiba inu puppies, but I haven't really written at all. I know that I should be writing. After all, I'm going to need to have the next project lined up soon. But sometimes I need a break, you know? To think about anything but writing.
And because I'm still doing that right now--that not thinking about writing thing--I'm not writing about writing either. So I'm going to open the floor to you. What do you do when you need to unplug and not write?

He's adorable. Love to know what he's dreaming about.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute video! Thanks for making me smile. =)
ReplyDeleteTaking a break from writing is necessary every once in a while. Recharge your creative batteries and all of that.
Usually when I'm not writing, I watch entirely too much TV and waste time on the internet. I try to read too, because at least that's in the literary family...
Relax and enjoy your time away from writing. Hopefully you'll enjoy writing even more when you come back!
Erin @ Quitting My Day Job
Aww, too cute! When I'm not writing...I'm working. It's sad, but true. I have so little time to spare that I feel like I'm either working on the day job, part time job, or squeezing in writing time. However, when I DO have time to spare, I like to watch TV and veg out on the couch. :)
ReplyDeleteThis totally made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI don't have TV, but can totally squander time on the internet. I like to spend time with my family. And if I really need to veg, I do crossword puzzles.
Seriously!
You'd have to have a stone heart not to want to pick that little guy up and snuggle him. So freaking cute!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo incredibly cute!!! Made me smile! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your break!
ReplyDeleteI'm a mess when I'm not writing, so I don't know that it's really an option anymore. I do enjoy reading though!! ;D
ReplyDeleteWhat am I doing when I'm not writing? Visiting www.cuteoverload.com for cute videos just like this one! Seriously, the world feels like a better place knowing there are tiny shiba inus in it. What else? I read, definitely, and watch TV and movies (both 'inspiring' and 'escapist/relaxation'). Also, thinking of my works-in-progress (if I'm taking a break) and wondering what I might write next.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post!
:)Alisa
I'm also currently not writing after spending 2 months doing nothing but to try to finish a book. Last week I went on vacation and this week I'm cleaning the house, doing my taxes and also surfing the internet (thanks for the vid!) and reading and watching TV. It feels good, but it also seriously is throwing me off I have to say! I'm so used to having such a structure routine, but it's all out the window until revisions or the new ideas solidify enough to start seriously working on.
ReplyDeleteWell, I watch this video, which leads me to "puppy falling asleep," which leads me to "puppy can't get up" MAKE IT STOP!!! Addictive cuteness! Must...write...novel...
