Coming and Going (Holly Schindler)
If I were to bet on friendships, I'd be about a bazillion dollars in debt.
I'm really bad at picking out which friendships last.
In fact, every single friendship I have bet on being in the "lifetime" category (as in: all friends are with you for a reason, a season, or a lifetime) has been wrong every time.
Every. Single. Time.
And the friends I suspected would drift out never to return are the ones who did, in fact, show up later. Or showed up when times got tough and everybody else left the room.
I am always surprised by friendships. That's the one word I would use. More than I have been disappointed or comforted or thrilled. I have been surprised.
It's that surprise that I would most like to write about. One of those TBD projects.
