Sights Aligned (Holly Schindler)
I was all set to write a post about how I, too, am guilty in making too many lofty goals in late December. I was going to write about how, in March, I'm usually in the midst of revamping plans and scaling back.
Only, I got about halfway through this post when I realized that actually wasn't true.
Look, last December, I did make insane goals. According to my pre-New Year's plans, I should not only be finished with a book, I should be on sub with it.
Did I make it? Nope. Are the goals different? Oh, yeah. Less lofty? Actually...no.
Early in January, I put my mystery aide to work on a rom-com. The initial idea was to whip it into shape in 4 weeks and sub it. But because the genre lends itself so incredibly well to indie publishing, I did another dive into market and blurb writing.
And now?
I'm planning not only the launch of a new book but a new pen name. A new marketing strategy. I'm now working with an entirely new plan I didn't even have on the radar last December.
Look, every goal has to be revised. Once you get into it and realize what you've got on your hands. But that doesn't mean you're not still aiming for the stars.
It just means you had to take some time to get your sights aligned.
