Bringing the Heat With Your Words--By Kimberly Sabatini

This month I'm blogging about heat--in the middle of a Northeast cold snap in June. The same week President Trump pulled out of the Paris Accord. I'm sorting through my emotions while wearing a sweater.

Upon introspection, what I've realized is that WORDS are MY method for bringing the heat on this very important topic...

1.  Seek out reliable sources to understand the science of what is going on around us. Words can help answer questions like...Why Global Warming Can Mean Harsher Winter Weather. Or in my case, a chilly and damp June.

2.  Use words, not only to understand why we have climate deniers, but also to help us better understand how to fix the problem, like when Climate Science Meets a Stubborn Obstacle: Students. Or use words to combat the deliberate and greedy manipulation of the climate. You can shine a spotlight on what is happening when In the Withdrawl from the Paris Climate Agreement, the Koch Brothers' Campaign Becomes Overt.

3.  And in your writing you can try to be brave, honest and true. Those qualities brought to your craft,  in interesting ways, will infuse your work with important questions and a vision of how things might be. And what you write may resonate powerfully with someone who reads it.

As a writer and a global citizen, I encourage you to use your words in all capacities to bring the HEAT to all those who are willing and actively interfering with saving our planet. Speak up. Write it down. Read all you can. Your words WILL make a difference.

Feel free to share links to informative and inspirational words on climate change in the comments. The more we share--the more we all know.
