PRODUCTIVE BREAKS (HOLLY SCHINDLER)

Admittedly, I'm not very good at taking breaks, doing nothing, vegging out.  I haven't had a full-on completely work-free vacation in nearly fifteen years, and count on one hand the number of days I've taken off from work since 2001, when I became a full-time author.

I am, though, pretty good at filling the tank in a productive way.  For example: I recently pushed myself away from the writing desk to start adding some video content to a new site I created for young readers (my next book to release will be my first MG, THE JUNCTION OF SUNSHINE AND LUCKY).

To get in the groove of making short vids, I started out by doing a couple of short videos about my YAs, A BLUE SO DARK and PLAYING HURT.

I love promotions that allow me to be creative, think of my books in new ways, and get me away from my desk for a moment and out in the sun...

  1. Holly, I love both these videos! They offer added dimensions about your characters and your process that will spark further thoughts in the kids who watch them. Nice work! I'm so looking forward to SUNSHINE AND LUCKY!

  3. These are great videos, Holly! Thank you for sharing them. They're an inspiration to authors who may not have the means or the desire to produce a book trailer, but want to share something more about their work. Love it!
